Construction on the new Butler County Community College facility in neighboring Armstrong County is in full swing.
The new BC3 @ Armstrong facility is being constructed on the site of the former Ford City Junior-Senior High School which was razed over three years ago. The current BC3 @ Armstrong in Manor Township opened in 2015 and shares space with Lenape Technical School.
Local lawmakers were able to secure a $1.75 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program state grant toward construction of the 15,000 square foot facility, Armstrong County has pledged a quarter million dollars, and several businesses made large donations as well.
BC3 administrators and elected officials broke ground on the new construction in September. The new single-story structure is expected to cost just over $4 million and include classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a natural science laboratory, student meeting space, and offices.
Completion of the project is still on schedule for sometime this fall.
