Gas prices dropped once again both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by three cents over the past week to settle at $3.93 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by three cents during that same time to arrive at $3.90. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.62, while the most expensive is $4.00 in Beaver.
The average national gas price actually rose by a nickel over the past week to reach $3.72 due to refinery issues on the West Coast and the Midwest. Although the demand for domestic gas decreased and the price of crude oil dropped last week, Hurricane Ian could further disrupt oil production around the Gulf of Mexico.
