A new healthcare provider is coming to the Butler County Prison.
Commissioners approved a new five-year deal with Prime Care Medical to oversee the healthcare of inmates inside the jail.
The prison warden noted that the new deal provides more staffing and a director of nursing. It will also double the mental health staff.
The deal is worth $1.85 million in its first year. The commissioners and county solicitor noted that while this deal is more expensive than the previous contract, they believe it provides better care and protects liability.
