Tax payers could be saving a little more in processing fees after the county government approved a new vendor.
The commissioners voted to move to a new online payment processing system.
County officials say it will primarily be used in the tax claims department and some payments in the treasurer’s office.
Right now, processing fees for credit card payments can be as high as 2.65 percent through the current system. The new payment plan will drop that to 2.19 percent.
Also e-check payments drop from $1.50 per transaction to just a 20 cent fee.
The new system is expected to be in place by August.
