The three Butler County Commissioners have received special recognition for their ability to work together.
Republicans Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer along with Democrats Kevin Boozel and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald received the inaugural Moe Coleman Award at a reception Monday in Pittsburgh.
This award is presented by the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work in honor of the late social worker and public servant known for bringing minds together to reach agreement through discussion.
While some Commissioners have struggled with political dissention in other counties, Butler County Commissioners have been able to collaborate across party lines to bring federal funding to the county through projects such as the upgrade to Route 228 in Middlesex and Cranberry Townships.
