Butler County is committing up to $1 million to help with broadband expansion in the area.
The county made the commitment in order to help with the application and awarding process.
Currently, a broadband expansion project is underway in partnership with Armstrong to help bring faster internet to the Moniteau and Slippery Rock School Districts.
This funding can be used to extend existing last-mile cable modem and fiber-to-the-premise broadband networks along with large-scale regional projects that can expand broadband availability to a large number of residents.
This particular commitment is to help bring broadband to the areas that are underserved, but outside of those districts.
