Butler County will be joining a brief that was filed in regards to the ongoing lawsuit between two voters and the county.
Frank Matis and Faith Gensler were not allowed to vote provisionally after submitting mail-in ballots that did not contain secrecy envelopes. That case is currently before the State Supreme Court.
Butler County Commissioners voted 2-1, with Kevin Boozel dissenting, to join a brief submitted by the National and State Republican Committees.
A portion of the brief says the Commonwealth Court doesn’t have the authority to go around state election law and create a curing policy.
Officials say the courts are operating on a quicker than usual timeline, with hopes a resolution in the case will be made before this fall’s election.
