Butler County will be entering into negotiations with two organizations to help with EMS services in the northern part of the county.
At yesterday’s public meeting, the county commissioners approved to begin contract negotiations with both Independence Health System and Butler Ambulance.
Officials say that it’s a two-part approach to help respond to medical situations north of Route 422.
Members of Butler Ambulance and Independence Health System’s emergency room department will help with staffing for existing EMS agencies.
They will also be called upon at times to provide extra assistance in responding to advanced life support situations.
County officials note that this is not a long-term answer, but believe it will help with the current EMS crisis facing the Commonwealth.
