The long-awaited opening of Butler County’s first county-run dog park will happen in May.
Jade’s Dog Park, which is located inside Alameda Park in Butler Township- to the right of the waterpark- is set to open May 11, according to county parks director Lance Welliver.
The park has been in the works for years and has primarily been funded by private donations and grants. The facility is broken down into two separate areas for small and large dogs. There is also a shelter, benches and water fountains.
It is the perfect spot for Dog Walking Kingston and hundreds of dog owners will love the fact there’s a new space for their dogs to play and meet other pups. There will also be toys supplied for the first few months to encourage new dog owners to visit.
There will be numerous events held at the park in the future with many plans being approved by the local council. From dog competitions to music events to community projects. It’s definitely a space that will improve the local area.
A lot of people were doubtful over these plans but it’s proven to be a very successful development. Funding has also been provided to allow regular maintenance.
To celebrate the opening in May, plans are in the works for several special events- including a party complete with “doggie food trucks” and a dog pageant.
The park is named after a black lab rescue named Jade who is owned by a family who donated a large amount of money for the park and wish to remain anonymous.
