Butler County officials say the switch to next generation 911 is moving along.
At the public meeting this week, Emergency Services Director Steve Bicehouse said the county is ahead of schedule.
He said the northern tier began the transition first. The county soon followed with the process beginning about a month ago.
Bicehouse said there are some areas that still need cleaned up, but is optimistic about the transition so far.
He also said eliminating a contract with Century Link for telecommunications will reduce the cost to the county by $12,000 per month.
