A number of infrastructure projects are on tap this summer for Butler County.
The commissioners approved an $8 million loan earlier this week that will help fund projects in multiple municipalities.
Included in the list of projects is a reconstruction of Harrisville Road, Main Street improvements in Zelienople, stormwater and road projects in Slippery Rock and Winfield Township, and then multiple projects near the Northgate Plaza in Jackson Township.
The loan was made through the county’s Infrastructure Bank, which Commissioner Kevin Boozel says helps out local municipalities.
“Some of these small municipalities would not even be eligible for these grants because they don’t have the cash flow to front it,” Boozel said. “So without this program, they wouldn’t even be able to accept the grant.”
First Commonwealth Bank won the bid for the loan, which will be at a 2.06 percent interest rate.
