A Butler County couple has filed a federal lawsuit against three Pennsylvania State Police troopers alleging use of excessive force during an arrest.
According to the suit- which was filed Tuesday by the Lindsay Law Firm in Butler- the incident began in July 2015 when a National Guard helicopter reported to State Police that a marijuana plant was observed in the backyard of a couple named Danny and Sheri Pollock of Slippery Rock. Mr. Pollack told the investigating trooper he had grown two plants for the purpose of pain relief for his wife following a motorcycle accident.
The Pollocks say they then didn’t hear anything about the situation for two years- until August 2017- when three officers arrived at their home to serve an arrest warrant. Attorney Al Lindsay says the officers used excessive force during their arrest of Mr. Pollock, bull-rushing and slamming him up against his house and smashing his face into a porch swing.
“They kicked him, kneed him in the groin and smashed his head against a swing knocking some teeth out,” Attorney Al Lindsay said Wednesday. “As a result of that, he received permanent injuries.”
Lindsay says the couple continues to experience hardships to this day.
“Of course, their lives have been terribly disturbed since what happened that day,” Lindsay say. “We have, for some reason, a lot of clients who have been beaten up by police officers.”
State police at the Butler barracks have not commented on the suit.
