As COVID cases rise in the state, hospitals will soon be receiving help from the federal government.
Acting Secretary of Health Keara Klinepeter says the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending strike teams to the state to help areas hardest hit by COVID hospitalizations.
“We’re looking to bring on staffing that can increase capacity by way of the total staffed beds in hospitals. As well as having additional EMS resources, and additional capacity in skilled nursing,” Klinepeter said. “It’s really a combination of all those things in tandem that will help us get through the winter.”
Klinepeter says details still need to be worked out as to where the strike teams will be going.
