Cranberry Township is the latest entity to ramp up efforts to stop the spread of the spotted lanternfly.
The Department of Agriculture has been trying to make residents aware that the species can wreak havoc and destroy many facets of the agriculture industry in Pennsylvania.
They mention grapevines, maples, black walnut, and birch among trees that can be harmed by the spotted lanternfly.
Cranberry Township is urging residents to kill the insect whenever they see it. They also advocate for removing Tree-Of-Heaven host trees and using pesticide applications.
