A new sign and system in Cranberry Township aims to make it safer for pedestrians to walk in the community.
It’s called an Actuated Pedestrian Crossing system and it’s installed in between North Boundary Park and the Pinehurst neighborhood.
Township officials say pedestrians can hit a button on the sign, causing it to light up and make a beeping noise. This is the first of its kind installed in Cranberry.
Since the walkway is not currently controlled by traffic lights, township officials hope this will make the roadway much safer for pedestrians.
