Several local lifeguards will receive recognition later this week with awards from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross.
During the Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. four lifeguards from the Cranberry Township Waterpark will be given the American Red Cross Lifesaving Award.
On June 19th of last year, Greta Schmidt, Olivia Schzure, Garrett Shreve, and Paige Welch rescued a 12-year-old boy who was drowning in the pool. They then used the skills and knowledge they learned through American Red Cross Training Services to save the boy’s life.
Each lifeguard, along with their instructor David Hutner, will receive a certificate, citation, and lapel pin from the American Red Cross.
