An early Friday morning fire destroyed a single story, rental home in Slippery Rock Township.
Slippery Rock Fire Chief Ken Taggart said his department was alerted about 7:15 a.m. that a house on Kiester Road was on fire.
The family of five that rents the house were not home. A passerby called 911.
“When we got there flames were coming through the roof,” Taggart said in an interview.
According to Taggart, an investigation is underway to determine the cause. He said all of the family’s belongings were lost and nothing was salvageable.
“It’s all gone,” he said.
Damage is estimated between $150,000-$200,000 for the home and its contents.
