Crews spent hours at a local butcher’s shop in downtown Butler Wednesday night after being called to a fire.
The Butler City Police Department informed the Butler County 911 Center just before 10 p.m. of a fire at Miller’s Meats on North Main Street.
Butler City Fire Chief Chris Switala said crews found a fire contained mostly to the boiler room when they arrived with some smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.
No one was injured in the fire, but the owners of Miller’s Meats say that “significant damage has occurred.”
Switala explained that fighting a fire in those conditions posed some challenges with city streets crews called to the scene to put down some salt.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Miller’s Meats owners say they anticipate being closed for an extended period of time.
