Firefighters were busy with a number of brush and grass fires along railroad tracks in Butler and Center Townships as well as the City of Butler Thursday afternoon.
The calls began coming in to the Butler County 911 Center just before 5 p.m. Thursday for several fires started by a passing train in the 200 block of Kittanning Street in Butler. Other fires were quickly reported in the areas of Delwood, Holyoke, Pine Tract, Jamisonville, and Palmer Roads. At least one structure was in danger as a result of these fires.
And it was all hands on deck for firefighters as more than a dozen crews were called out to battle the flames.
