The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 last night to complete a three-game series. The game was played in Williamsport, home of the current Little League World Series. Pirates rookie Mitch Keller allowed six earned runs on seven hits. He gave up two home runs. Starling Marte led the Bucs with three hits, including his 20th home run of the season. He now has 20 home runs and 21 stolen bases.
The Pirates fell to 51-72 overall. The Cubs remain tied for first in the National League Central Division with St. Louis.
The Pirates host the Washington Nationals tonight to begin a four-game series. Game time is 7:05pm. Trevor Williams will start for the Bucs. WISR pre-game is 6:40pm. The Nationals are the top Wild Card team in the N.L.
