The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 last night at PNC Park. 21-year old pitching prospect Roansy Contreras made his major league debut and pitched three shutout innings. He allowed three hits, walked one a struck out four. The Cubs scored two runs in the seventh inning after the Pirates took a 2-1 lead in the sixth.
Bryan Reynolds had two triples in the game, it was the first time a Pirate has done so since Josh Harrison in May of 2014.
The Bucs have lost rookie third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes for the season, after he was placed on the 10-day Injured List. He is dealing with another wrist injury.
