Local dairy producers are invited to attend a gathering on Tuesday to learn more about a new program.
An information session is being held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Butler USDA Service Center on Evans City Road.
A Penn State Extension Dairy Educator will conduct the meeting, which will focus on the revamped Margin Protection Program for Dairy designed to provide better protection from shifting milk and feed prices. The program protects dairy producers by paying them when the difference between the national all-milk price and the national average feed cost falls below a certain dollar amount elected by the producer.
The enrollment period for this program is now underway.
