Daniel “Dan” Wheeler, 73, of Butler, formerly of St. Petersburg FL, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, December 16, 2024. He was born in Butler on April 30, 1951, to the late Donald and Denelda “Mae” (McGarrah) Wheeler. Dan graduated from Butler High School and was a self-employed mechanic. He had a passion for working on cars and teaching his skills to his sons and grandson. In his free time Dan loved to play pool, fish and truck mudding. He also loved to host parties and cook on the barbeque. He was known for being a hard-working man who liked to play as hard as he worked. Dan was a man of his word, if he said something, he meant it and if he befriended you, you were a friend for life. Most of all, he was known for being a loving father and grandfather. Father of Brian (Nicole) Wheeler, Daniel Wheeler Jr., and Crystal Wheeler; brother of Patty (John) Shedio and Donna DeCaro; grandfather of Alexis (Kaleb) Eshenbaugh, Noah, Lance, Blaise (Megan), Damian and Zane Wheeler, Nacashiona Lewis and Amaria Dobson; great grandfather of Madison Wheeler, Layla and Emry Eshenbaugh; uncle of Cindy Benson and Jeff Sinclair; Dan had a unique and special bond with his nephews Jim Simons and Mike Gregg.
