Daniel Jay “Dan” Harlan, 59, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 1, 2021 at his residence.
He was born June 11, 1962 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Bryce Bonner Harlan and the late Josephine M. Heasly Harlan.
Dan worked as a crew member at Pizza Hut for many years and later worked at the ARC of Butler County’s Sheltered Workshop. He loved sports and horseback riding and competed in various events of the Special Olympics held at Penn State every year. In 1999, he received the Butler County Special Olympics Athlete of the Year Award. Dan also enjoyed dancing, bowling, and playing the drums. He created friends everywhere with his big smile and warm, outgoing personality.
Daniel is survived by his three sisters, Pamela (John) Bowman, Kathy (Daryl) Kemerer, Billie (Nancy) Harlan; a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Bryce Harlan, Jr.
Friends will be received Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA with The Rt. Rev. David Hicks, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
