A Seneca Valley graduate who pleaded guilty to murder dropped his fight to have his case reconsidered.
25-year-old Matthew Darby appeared in court yesterday after filing a post-conviction relief petition, which essentially argues that he had ineffective counsel.
That petition came nearly a year after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder of Alina Sheykhet, a Pitt student who was killed in 2017.
Darby began the hearing, but ultimately decided against proceeding stopping the case midway through testimony.
That ends any chance of appealing the conviction for Darby, who was sentenced to life in prison as part of a plea agreement.
