David B. Karenbauer, age 65, of Herman, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, following a brief illness.
Born in Butler on Sept.15, 1958, he was a son of the late Blaine D. and Lorraine C. Penrod Karenbauer.
Dave was retired from Schnur’s Custom Meats, where he worked as a butcher. Prior to that, he was employed for many years as a butcher at Center Avenue Shop ’n Save, and then at the Pullman Square Shop ’n Save until it closed.
He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.
He also belonged to the Summit Township Sportsman’s Club, the RC Men’s Club, and the Herman Volunteer Fire Company.
He was a 1977 graduate of Butler High School.
Dave is survived by the love of his life for the past 25 years, Claudene Bopp, of Butler. He is also survived by two sisters, Theresa Spohn and her husband, Mike, of Herman, and Donna Carben and her husband, Jerry, of Herman; two stepdaughters, Tiffany Dunmyre and her husband, John, of Butler, and Samantha Ferry, of Butler; three grandchildren, Kendyl, Braxton, and Paityn; two nephews, Andrew and Jericho (his godson); two nieces, Cathy and Courtney; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Karenbauer and Timothy Karenbauer.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. from Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Rd. Butler, with Rev. Ward Staken, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
