A childcare facility in Clinton Township expects to reopen early next week after a major fire shut the facility down.
After a fire last Friday at the The Learning Village Early Childhood Development Center, the facility is looking to reopen next Tuesday.
The fire didn’t damage any of the children play areas, but the fire did impact the center’s inventory of diapers, wipes, food, toys, and more.
“In the end I’m sure it’s going to be a big number. I was more than I expected because of the fact that the smoke travels and carries all that soot with it,” Owner of the childcare facility, Melanie Merten said. “At first I thought it was just the office, which was no big deal. Well, not so much.”
Merten wants to reopen as fast as possible for the families that rely on her business.
“It’s been a while and a race to the finish line trying to get us open, because I know the families are relying on us so we’re doing everything we can to get back open,” Merten said.
Final inspections are expected to happen Monday after additional cleaning is completed this weekend.
