The deadline for prospective candidates who are interested in serving a two-year term on Butler City Council along with the decision on who will fill the seat has been moved up.
After previously setting a date of February 9th for receiving letters, the Council is now cutting off acceptance at noon on Tuesday, February 1st.
Council will then deliberate and make a decision at a special meeting to be held that evening at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers of the City Building. The seat was vacated January 3rd when Council member Bob Dandoy took over as Mayor and Third Class City Code mandates that the vacancy must be filled within 30 days.
Letters of interest can be sent to the City Building on West North Street. The only requirement is to be a city resident, however the board said that they are looking for someone with a financial background.
