Deborah W. “Debbie” Douglas, 64, of East Butler, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital with her family by her side.
Born June 16, 1958, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. Whitacre and Kathryn “Kay” (Smith) Whitacre.
Debbie was a 1976 graduate of Butler High School and went on to attend Butler County Community College where she earned degrees in Business Management and Accounting. She recently retired from the Butler Area School District following 21 years in food service. Debbie was an active member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to Jumonville Camp. “Mama Douglas”, as she was known to many, loved children and always had an open door for them and never let them leave hungry. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and going out to eat. Above all else, Debbie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that loved spending time with her family.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Richard “Rick” Douglas, whom she married on September 22, 1984; 3 sons: Andrew “Andy” Douglas and his fiancé Haley, Joe Douglas and Stephen Douglas all of East Butler; her daughter: Christine Cavanaugh and her husband Zachery of Cabot; 2 grandchildren: Ash Cavanaugh and Ashton Walker; her father and mother-in-law, Dick and Mabel Douglas, her brother-in-law, Ken Douglas; her sister-in-law, Peggy Sarvey and her husband David; 1 niece and 2 great nieces.
All are invited to attend a visitation for Debbie on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. David Janz, officiating.
Private interment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Debbie’s honor to the Children’s Ministry of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
