At a recent Game Commission meeting, the board approved the Saturday after Thanksgiving as opening day of deer firearm season.
But, officials say they are going to continue to examine whether or not that day makes the most sense.
The Game Commission contends that Saturday better accommodates a majority of hunters; they cite license sales and other surveys.
However, the commission also noted that a considerable amount of hunters express their preference to have the start of deer season return to the Monday after Thanksgiving.
The Commission said they would be working with the legislature to once again analyze the issue to see if switching back to the previous start day would benefit hunters and the hunting industry.
