The change in Daylight Saving Time could increase the risk of motorist collisions with deer.
According the Pennsylvania State Game Commission, deer are especially active this time of year due to mating season as well as increased feeding to store up energy for the winter season.
This increased deer activity coincides with an increase in vehicular traffic between dusk and dawn due to the time change which could result in a greater chance of a collision. A recent report states that the likelihood of hitting a deer in Pennsylvania has increased by over 6% this year compared to last year.
The Game Commission recommends that drivers slow down when possible and always stay alert for the possibility of a deer on the road.
