A Democratic Party organizer is joining the race to be the next Congressman from a nearby district.
34-year-old Sean Meloy of Morningside announced his candidacy for the 17th Congressional District—a seat currently held by Democrat Conor Lamb.
Meloy is currently with the Victory Fund, which helps raise money for LGBTQ candidates. Meloy would also be the first openly gay member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
As we’ve reported before though, the future of the 17th District is unknown due to Congressional redistricting. The seat is opening after Lamb announced his candidacy for the Senate.
