Democratic house lawmakers are looking to add healthcare protections into state law that already exist in federal law.
Three new laws have been proposed in the Pennsylvania State House that already exist under the federal Affordable Care Act.
Prohibiting limits on healthcare, keeping coverage to the age of 26, and prohibiting denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions have all been introduced into the house committee for insurance. All three of these laws fall under federal law currently but if the ACA were to be repealed these protections would remain intact.
The lawmakers credit the threat of federal lawmakers repealing or changing the ACA as the reason for the proposals.
