Dennis A. Myers Jr., 93, of New Haven Court, Butler, a well-known former Chicora resident and retired school teacher went to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, December 31, 2020 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Dennis was born in West Lebanon, Indiana on June 24, 1927. He was the son of the late Dennis A. Sr. and Delsa J. Shankle Myers.
He was a 1945 graduate of Latrobe High School. Dennis graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Science from Syracuse University. Mr. Myers taught high school science for 24 years at Turkeyfoot School in Confluence and had also taught at East Brady High School. Throughout his teaching career, Mr. Myers was highly respected among the district’s students, parents, and staff.
Dennis was well-known throughout Butler County and the surrounding area for his skill as a piano technician tuner for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Piano Technician Guild and was an avid bird watcher. Dennis was an active member of the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church in Butler.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Betty L. Rainey Myers, whom he married on July 3, 1965 at the Indiana Free Methodist Church. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law, and a number of close friends.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Myers.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday (Covid 19 protocols).
