A new report from the Department of Environmental Protection is showing that some waterways in Butler County are polluted.
The study revealed that nearly 30 percent of evaluated streams in the county are known as “impaired,” which means they contain a level of pollutants.
A majority of the impaired waterways are in the northeastern portion of the county, near Bear Creek.
However, during the last two years there have been streams that have been restored. This is mainly unnamed tributaries into the Connoquenessing Creek.
DEP officials also noted that Glade Run Lake is considered restored and has been moved off of the impaired list.
