The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has announced a new pilot program that aims to reduce errors and speed up processing time for construction permits.
The first permit to go through the pilot program will impact the speed of which stormwater construction can be put into place.
One of the ways the DEP is looking to speed up the process is by having a Conservation District or DEP staff member have two separate pre-application meetings. At this meeting the DEP or District will determine the eligibility for the project.
The DEP has also implanted Governor Josh Shapiro’s PAyback program that returns fees from applications not returned in a timely matter.
This pilot program will take place in 10-counties Beaver and Alleghany being the only two in Western Pennsylvania.
