One state agency is facing a high number of positions that are currently unfilled.
The Department of Corrections has about an 8.5 percent vacancy rate. Acting DOC Secretary Laurel Harry says they are trying to reduce that number.
“Last fall we put together a recruitment and retention team made up of 15 lieutenants and a captain. Their sole mission is to recruit employees to come to the Department of Corrections,” Harry testified. “They’re going to schools, CareerLink events, and going through the military because a large percentage of our folks have military backgrounds.”
Harry says they are looking to fill about 750 positions.
