The amount of revenue the state brought in during August continued a streak of outpacing expectations.
The Department of Revenue announced that collections totaled $2.9 billion last month.
This is nearly 2% more than anticipated and brings the year-to-date collections to nearly 1% more than anticipated.
Sales tax receipts continue to be the main driver of revenue, bringing in $1.2 billion in August. Personal income tax revenue was $1.1 billion and corporation tax revenue was just over $117 million. The Motor License Fund which includes gas taxes collected nearly $302 million last month, nearly $48 million more than estimated.
