Diana E. Underwood Hunt, 81, of Cabot, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by family at Concordia on Wednesday following a long illness.
She was born October 1, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Clarence S. Underwood and the late Anna E. Nydam Underwood.
Mrs. Hunt was a graduate of Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago, Il. She went on to receive her Practical Nursing Certificate and worked as an LPN at Condell Memorial Hospital in Libertyville, Il. until her retirement in May 1996. Her compassion towards others was a blessing to her patients as she cared for their needs. Diana was a coordinator and instructor for Penwasciz, an educational program for high school students interested in learning of health careers within the hospital setting.
In 1997, when Diana and Fred moved to the Butler area, they became members of Christ Community United Methodist Church. In 2009 when they moved to Concordia, they joined Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver. She had a servant heart, she volunteered in the food pantry, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and helped serve meals at the church. Diana enjoyed ceramics, quilting, piano, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, and spending time with her family. She dearly loved animals of all kinds.
She is survived by her husband, Robert F. “Fred” Hunt, whom she married on April 6, 1957; two sons, Robert T. (Jeanna) Hunt of Butler, PA, and Brian E. (Dorrell) Hunt of Henderson, KY; daughter, Katherine A. (Nicholas) Hunt; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara A. Aaron of Madison, WI; sister-in-law, Katherine Rapp of Butler, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday, March 12, 2018, 1 – 4 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018, 4:00 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Pastor Rob Wilson of Zion United Methodist Church, officiating.
Private Burial will take place in the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
