Pennsylvania’s director of testing for COVID-19 says he’s encouraged by the latest round of funding in the new coronavirus relief bill.
Michael Huff said the state will receive $20 billion as part of the new package. He says that will help with things like surveillance testing.
“For example, on college campuses and similar congregate environments, surveillance testing of asymptomatic persons is critical strategy for preventing transmission of COVID-19,” Huff said. “Once positive, asymptomatic individuals are identified, they can be moved into isolation, thus preventing the spread of the disease.”
Huff also said testing continues to expand in Pennsylvania. So far, there have been over 7 million tests administered.
