Butler Area School District officials are articulating how they will administer a policy that they say will protect online privacy within the district.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White gave notice to the school board during a meeting on Monday about the procedures that administrators will be using to document who is accessing school accounts and when they should be doing it.
Although the district operates in a very public manner, there is an expectation of privacy in communication when dealing with some sensitive student and faculty material. The district already has policy set up to deal with this issue but the action taken on Monday deals with administrative regulations.
This is one action that needs to be taken in order for students to eventually receive individualized log-in access for technologies, as well as possibly personal email for older students at some point in the future.
