Monday is a federal holiday but Butler Area School District students don’t have the day off.
The district is using today to make up for a snow day earlier this month.
BASD students are still lucking out. The district has had to cancel five days of school so far this winter due to bad weather but the students only have to make up one day.
School officials say the other four days will become professional development days for faculty, which is possible because the district still has more instructional hours in this year’s schedule than are required by state.
Some other school districts in Butler County are also using President’s Day to make up for a lost school day due to snow.
