Donald A. Huegel, 62, of Butler passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Butler Memorial
Hospital. He was born on August 21st, 1962, in Erie, PA, son of George A. Huegel and
Nancy L. (Bowen) Huegel. Don was a member of St. Conrad’s Church in the All Saints Perish.
Don married Mary (Marchuck) Huegel on September 10, 1983. She lovingly called him
Donnie. His beloved wife of 41 years, Mary, passed away on October 9, 2024. He was
preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and Robert. Together they are survived by their
two cherished adult children, Chelsea Huegel, and Sean Huegel and his wife Kirsten, and
one granddaughter Alexis Frye, brother George and his wife Olga and four sisters,
Georgetta, Jane and her husband Philip, Lynn, and Karen, his sister-in-law Susan, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
At 18 years old, Don joined his brother George and worked with various Foot Lockers
across the country. Later in life, Don became a businessman and was the owner of
Huegel Motors. Later he was the General Manager of Power Up Equipment in Butler,
PA., He retired to take care of his wife Mary.
Don enjoyed hunting, was an excellent golfer, he enjoyed restoring classic cars and was
very proud of his Plymouth Road Runners and many other muscle cars throughout his
life. He was a 32-degree Mason. Don made amazing turkey calls, named them after his
daughter Chelsea. Don loved to make turkey dinner and was the most phenomenal
turkey chef among other meals he prepared including his special recipe for the perfect
spaghetti sauce. Don was a devoted husband and father. His attention to detail and
craftsmanship allowed him to build his wife her dream kitchen and addition to their home
to enjoy as a family. Don spent his last years taking care of Mary and his family to make
sure, everything was taken care of for them. He placed his family’s life above his own
until his last days.
