Donald D. Lackey, age 75, of Butler, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler on September 18, 1943, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen Haas Lackey.
He retired in 1992 from Butler Armco, where he was employed for 30 years.
He was a member of Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church.
Donald was also a member of the Happy Hunters Sportsman’s Club, the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department, and the Herman Volunteer Fire Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved watching nature.
He is survived by three daughters, Cathy Tomsey and her husband, John, of Chicora, Marci Lackey, of Butler, and Chalace Schaffner and her husband, Nick, of Fenelton; one brother, William Lackey, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Elaina, Crystal and Breanna Tomsey, Shane Lackey, and Hunter, Tanner and Conner Schaffner; one great-grandson, Gabriel Bauer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was anxiously awaiting the birth of a great-grandchild in June.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye L. Lackey, who passed away December 14, 2017; one sister, Sue Guthrie; one brother-in-law, Tom Guthrie; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Lackey.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 Saint Wendelin Road, Butler, with Father Matt McClain officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Paul’s Reformed Church Cemetery, Chicora.
