God gained a special angel in the unexpected passing of Donald D. Young, Jr., of Butler, on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was the son of Donald D. Young and Lina Irene (Brewster) Young.
Don graduated from Moniteau High School and attended Butler County Community College. He retired from Armco (now Cleveland Cliffs, Butler Works) in April 1995. Don loved golfing with his wife and friends. He was a member of Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 61 years, Arlene V. (Patterson) Young; his beloved children, Tammy, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Douglas, of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Young, Summerville, SC, and a sister, Ruth Ann (Young) McDougal, North Port, FL, and a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Curtis, and siblings: Charles, Glenn, Susan (Marshall), Earl, William, and James.
Those who wish to pay their respects may be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Monday, January 24, from 4:00 until time of service at 7:00 pm with his pastor Matthew Kail officiating. Masks are required to ensure safety of all those present. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.
