Donald M. Waldroup, 80, of East Brady, passed away peacefully while in the company of his family on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2023 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Donald was born in Titusville on March 15, 1943. He was the son of the late Wayne C. and Genevieve N. Say Waldroup.
He was a 1962 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. Donald had been employed by American Hardware, Servistar, and later as a forklift operator for Paragon. He retired from the mailroom at USIS in Boyers.
Don enjoyed hunting and canoeing. He was a long time active member of the Criswell Bible Baptist Church and was faithful in his support of Christian missionaries around the world. Don was a proud United States Navy veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam era as a radioman (RM3) aboard the USS Wright in the Atlantic at a duty station in Keflavic, Iceland. While serving the Navy, Don was a member of the Blue Jackets Great Lakes Naval Choir. He was a member of the Harrisburg American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy L. Reighard Waldroup; three sons, R. Mark Waldroup and his wife, Patricia, of Cabot, Todd E. Waldroup and his wife, Brandy L., of Fenelton, and Matthew S. Waldroup and his wife, Kristy, of Rochester; his grandchildren, Jacob, Gabrielle, and Marissa Healy and her husband, Todd, Morgan Christman and her husband, Thomas, and Mitchell and Liam Waldroup; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Mya; a sister, Mary Stowe and her husband, Charles, of Parker; two sisters-in-law, Emma Waldroup of Karns City and Marjorie Waldroup of Chicora, as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his brothers, Harry, Charles, and Frank.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Crisswell Bible Baptist Church, 127 Crisswell Rd., Karns City, with pastor, Paul DeBacco, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crisswell Bible Baptist Church. Military honors will be accorded by the Brady’s Bend and Chicora American Legion Posts at 10:45 a.m. at the church.
