Donald R. Morando, age 79, of Butler, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Butler on February 24, 1938, he was a son of the late Fred and Josephine Codispot Morando.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Don was a firefighter for the City of Butler for 18 years, retiring in 1986. Following retirement, Don worked at Panel and Tile Mart and at Lezzer Lumber.
He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kirkwood Morando, to whom he was married for 61 years; two sons, Tom Morando and his wife, Stacy, of Butler and Rick Morando and his wife, Mary, of Butler; one brother, Carl Morando and his wife, Joyce, of Butler; one sister, Marie Ross, of Florida; five grandchildren, Dawn Hepler and her husband, Jeremy, Danielle Milligan and her husband, Nathan, Dana Milligan and her husband, Cory, Megan McCleary and her husband, Ryan, and Michael Morando; six great-grandchildren, Dillon, Taylor, Lucas, Rylee, Ryder and Liliana; two sisters-in-law, Janet Morando, of Florida and Joyce Kirkwood, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Fred and Jim; one sister-in-law, Mary Morando; and three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kirkwood, John Kirkwood, and Dan Ross.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Tuesday, December 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 27, at 10 a.m. from Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
