A familiar name will appear on the ballot of voters in the city of Butler Mayor race this fall.
Former Mayor Tom Donaldson has filed the necessary petition with the Butler County Bureau of Elections to be listed as an Independent candidate. Donaldson last served in the position from 2014-2018.
An Independent candidate is required to get at least 28 signatures in order to appear on the ballot alongside Democratic candidate Bob Dandoy and Republican nominee Fred Reese.
Current Butler Mayor Republican Ben Smith previously decided not to run for a second term in office.
