Donna “Joan” Miller, 89, of Butler, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at her residence.
She was born August 1, 1929 in Concord Township, PA, the daughter of the late Roy H. and Marjorie (Groom) Thompson.
Joan was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. She worked various jobs throughout her life including K-Mart for 21 years and enjoyed being a cafeteria monitor at Homeacre School.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are two daughters, Vivian Miller of Butler; Virginia Pellis of Irwin; three grandchildren Kimberly (Rich) Michniak, Rachel McCandless, and Sara (Stephen) McLafferty, great grandchildren Avery Michniak and Waylon McLafferty; her brother, Veryl (Hazel) Thompson of Chicora; a sister, Edyce (George) Kepple of Butler and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Miller, who passed away on April 14, 1981, a daughter, Wendy McCandless and two sisters, Audrey Manor and Barbara Fair.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 2-4PM & 6-8PM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 10AM with Rev. Michael Alfieri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery, West Sunbury, PA.
