Donna Lue Smith Fagley, 85, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 1, 2018 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born November 11, 1932 in Grove City, Pennsylvania to the late William Calvin Smith and the late Helen Leola Plyler Smith of Brookville, PA, Jefferson County.
Mrs. Fagley was a 1950 graduate of Brookville High School. She then went on to Butler County Memorial School of Nursing, where she received her RN in 1953. Donna worked as an RN for Butler Memorial Hospital. After her husband passed away, she went to Allegheny County Community College and became one of the first Certified Medical Coding Specialists. Donna then went on to work as a Certified Medical Coding Specialist for DuBois Regional Hospital until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a founding member of Christ Community United Methodist Church on Duffy Rd., member of the Order of Eastern Star #45 Butler, PA, and served as a Past Matron of the Brookville Eastern Star Chapter. Donna enjoyed attending church, attending Sunday School, Eastern Star, collecting turkeys, and was also known to wear a wide variety of hats.
Donna is survived by her three daughters, Helen Jean Jeffries of Butler, PA, Martie Bachman and her husband Glenn of Albrightsville, PA, and Mary Anna Cole of New Baltimore, PA; four grandchildren, Sara Dawn Jeffries of Butler, PA, Clinton Cole, his wife Shanna, and their two sons, Noah and Nikolas of Lonaconing, MD, Ryan Cole of Frostburg, MD, and Zach Cole of Frostburg, MD; two sisters, June Anna Welton of Meadville, PA, and Molly Smith and her husband Norman of Houston, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Fagley, whom she married on September 4, 1952 and who passed away on November 11, 1983.
Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held in the Spring at the First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street Butler, PA. Day and time will be announced at a later date.
Private burial will take place in the Temple Cemetery in Hazen, PA.
